can james franco please stop obsessing over gay people and go back to making comedies with seth rogen for the straights i am just so tired...
i was confused on what felt wrong about this movie but upon reading a few other reviews, i get it now. this movie doesn't give you enough to emotionally connect or even feel anything. it just exists as is, feeding you the story, and then it's over.
FUCK michael glatze and FUCK everyone involved in the making of this piece of shit movie
why did i watch this and upon further googling: why would someone even make a movie about this man?
The titular Michael of this movie is the infamous Michael Glatze, the former gay activist and former editor of XY who had a life crisis and turned into a heterosexual rabidly fundie anti-gay Christian pastor. Articles upon articles have been written about him and his struggles.
Justin Kelly's film, starring James Franco as Glatze, tries to present him and his life without judgement, without taking a side, as a person struggling with himself. In turn, I Am Michael is a flat film scared to commit to anything. There are no deep lows or soaring highs in tonality, extending from the direction to Franco's central performance. In a sense, Kelly is too worried about judging Glatze that he neglects to penetrate…
i literally cannot believe how bad this movie was like...... a movie that is sympathetic to a gay rights activist learning to denounce homosexuality and convert to mormonism??? starring james franco?????? like who asked for this
James Franco makes the classic mistake of walking into a church, which as we all know instantly turns you straight. I hope at least the dog had a nice life.
tag yourself i'm the girl in the corridor who sees emma roberts in a long sleeved shirt and stops her to say that they're here to worship the lord not distract the men
