"I figure we have a little courtroom in here: judge, jury, and executioner. The problem just moves in here where it can never get out. Right here in solitary. So you go right on punishing yourself. You can't get away with it. Never."

Wouldn't the position of husband to a defenseless young girl
with a large fortune suit him to perfection?

How can you entertain such a suspicion?

Suspicion? It's a diagnosis, my dear.

Impeccable script. Btw, men ain't shit.

“Grief is really just love. It’s all the love you want to give, but cannot. All that unspent love gathers up in the corners of your eyes, the lump in your throat, and in that hollow part of your chest. Grief is just love with no place to go.”

Forgive me for saying so, but this was so much better than the first movie of the entire franchise. I fucking loved it. I agree, the first GITS had a far more major impact and although I loved it too, I never really understood it. Unlike this one, which also requires some reflecting and thinking, it's easier to interpret the hidden messages Mamoru Oshii is trying to convey throughout the whole film thru the existence of AI at this era,…

  • Ikiru

    Ikiru

Out of the many Kurosawa films I've watched and adored, Ikiru was really tedious. Not because I knew it was going to be a tear-jerker, but the fact that it was too blunt for my liking. Somehow, I felt this film lacked the empathy I needed to understand and comprehend the struggles of the main character. Kurosawa is known for his very tranquil-paced films, but Ikiru felt like a million years to finish watching. It was quite irritating to say the least. Perhaps I need a second viewing soon.

but... the gondola no uta song scene ruined me 😢😢
