Persona is one of the best films I’ve ever seen. I love films where the director wants you to figure out what is going on for yourself, I mean Mulholland Drive is literally my favourite film.
Everything I’ve loved about the other Bergman films I’ve seen is present here: the insanely good performances, the masterfully written screenplay, the lack of score and camera movement, the depressing tone and the realistic raw emotion. But the film has even more than the other 2 I have seen, it has: surrealism, a more complex narrative and 100s of ways to interpret it.
I definitely need to watch this again to make sense of my interpretations and decide which one I like most.
This film will 100% be entering my top 100 list but I can’t decide exactly where I will place it. All I know is that it will be extremely high up!
P.S. Persona, Mulholland Drive and Vertigo would be a fantastic triple bill!
