The Handmaiden is an incredible film in every way.
To start with the plot is extremely engaging despite the film’s long runtime, this is mainly due to its many twists and turns throughout. The characters are probably the most interesting part. You see characters in different ways at different points in the film which definitely keeps you intrigued. The relationships between the characters are easy to get invested in as well.
Probably my favourite aspect of the film is how great it looks. The cinematography, costume design, production design and locations all combine to make one of the best looking films of the decade. Another aspect that I found phenomenal was the score.
I honestly think I liked this more than Oldboy.
