Tom Prideaux’s review published on Letterboxd:
There’s a strong sense of cycle that permeates throughout 1993’s Dazed & Confused. It’s entirely obvious that the freshmen are in the exact same position that the seniors were in merely four years ago, and that the seniors are in the same circumstances that the freshmen will be in in those similar mere four years time. Perhaps, even the most famous shot in the film captures the stages of this seemingly endless high school cycle perfectly. The number of lines that prove the above thesis at least to some extent is near-immeasurable; for example the “every other decade” line has surely been muttered or at least thought of by nearly every teenager out there since we started docking down the decades way back two millennium ago.
