    What could've been.

    Sean Penn said the original screenplay was the best thing he ever read. As far as the story that actually ended up in the film, it's pretty good. At times it's great. A really compassionate, intimate family drama that delves into a difficult subject.

    "You wouldn't be able to make this nowadays!"

    Honestly dude, shut up. This is a fun film that does a good job making fun of pretentious and desperate actors but let's be real - if this film was never made, that would be okay. We'd be fine. This wasn't a necessary film that changed anybody's perception of the world. It's a pretty good comedy. Grow up and don't be racist.

    Doctor doctor, I watched Synecdoche New York and now I can't stop thinking about death.

    Yeah this film bummed me out a lot. I think I understood it mostly (who knows with Kauffman).
