Lo and Behold: Reveries of the Connected World

An interesting film tackling the interesting challenge of creating a film about something you can’t actually see. The first half started strong, in classic Herzog style, he found some brilliant stories and characters. However in the second half it started to loop and became very episodic that it lacked a flow.

A really great modern classic ob doc. Great access and great characters. Vertie camera work classically executed.

  • Manhattan

The cinematography of Gordon Willis captures Manhattan beautifully. Some of the long takes are great pieces of blocking and design. The script is one of Woody Allen’s finest. The opening sequence launches you brilliantly in to the film.

    Steve Jobs

As a watch it was an interesting telling of the story and character of Steve Jobs using the launches as a device to hold a broader context. While as a script it’s not as strong as The Social Network you started to get a view in to the character of Jobs. Not quite classic Boyle in his approach but good to see him trying different things.
