Stevie’s review published on Letterboxd:
As I reached the end of Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, I had the thought...wait, was that movie actually really good? It started to pick up steam once it actually focused on COVID-19 and Rudy Giuliani, and conspiracy theorists and all that. I quickly decided that no, this wasn’t actually good and better than I was giving it credit for, for one big reason. Where the hell was this during the first two acts? Why did this just feel like a more boring Borat for the majority of the runtime? Who thought this was a good idea? So much of this reminded me that no matter how much the original failed, it could always, always be worse and less effective. It’s a pretty rock solid parody of Covid conspiracists, and a mostly uninteresting film outside of that. Sorry. Y’all think this deserves Best Picture: Musical or Comedy at the Golden Globes? I don’t get you people.
