Tom Velasco’s review published on Letterboxd:
If pushed on the matter, I would have to say that Tarkovsky's Andrei Rublev is the best film I've ever seen in terms of an objective (or as close as I can get) assessment of the craft of filmmaking (as far as I understand it, which is, admittedly, not necessarily saying a lot). Now, this is not to say that it's my favorite film, but just that, as far as I can assess it, it is the best. If pushed further, I would say that Stalker is the second best film I've ever seen. I would add that no other movie has ever come close.
Tarkovsky is playing chess, while everyone else plays checkers.
