Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood

Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood ★★★★

I thought I was walking into a typical entertaining Tarantino narrative where the violence is heavy and the pacing is fast but instead was met with a slice of Tarantino that he only briefly brushed upon with Jackie Brown, where the characters take over instead of the action. It's reflective, funny, scatterbrained, and sexy, all the while probably pissing off those who love him solely as the guy who did Pulp Fiction, as it's his most intellectually pleasing film. A meditation on hollywood's past, while looking at creating a new fairy tale ending, I dig.
