Stereotypical nun with satanic eyes (Glaucoma) talking to our tormented protagonist:
"A demon is following you and your family is in danger, but the recess is over, go to class"
Guillermo shares with us his tenth fairy tale, perhaps the most complacent and solvent of his career.
An unusual and picturesque romance decked out in espionage, complex and delineated characters exquisitely interpreted in an exuberant tale of accurate tones and emotions divinely purified by the pulse of an impeccable direction and the masterful performance of Sally Hawkins.
An innocent ode to once again the blurred human sensitivity.
Moonlight goes beyond the pretension of being only a visual poem, it encompasses many concepts such as childhood, cruelty, sexualit and rejection (Never victimization as has been pointed out ) as few films dare.
It is not about the minorities or about being politically correct, the film is about the silent hell with which many human beings live throughout their lives.
Personally I consider that Moonlight is easily one of the most subtle and pure films I have seen in American cinema in resent years.
