The Good German 2006
Steven Soderbergh said on a podcast that he considers himself a "synthesist" in the sense that he feels he doesn't have the most original ideas and instead he loves to capture the aesthetics and tenets of a genre, micro genre, etc. I think that comes through most in this film out of all of his that I have seen so far. He really plays up an old Hollywood War-time Noir film and although he's not firing on all cylinders you can tell he really gets what kinda made those movies special.
