Apocalypse Now

Apocalypse Now ★★

I watched the Redux to make sure i capture all of what Coppola was trying to say. Perfect example of faux white guilt and mediocre, surface level, and contradictory critique on imperialism . It falls flat on its own ass for trying to critique colonialism, war, and violence through the eyes of the aggressors. It makes simple and condescending caricatures of a people who's country is being invaded in order to make a point that would have been 10x more effective if their voices were centered, instead it chooses to never even at least attempt to capture the sentiments of said people. The book is even worse, Chinua Achebe was cooking.

Highlights: Some of the best cinematography I have ever seen
