Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb

Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb ★★★★★

Dr. Strangelove is a ridiculously funny, terrifyingly well-written masterpiece. That its laughable scenario is actually somewhat believable makes it even funnier. Every single performance is beyond perfect and the script could not have been better. It's tense, hilarious, and designed to showcase the subtle scenery chewing of the whole cast. The combat footage is very realistic and some of the best of the '60s. Honestly the whole thing felt very stage play-y, in a good way. This is a film about characters and they do an awful lot of talking (which surprised me, considering this is a Kubrick film). There are so many incredible performances in this film that I can't even begin to pick a standout. A very thoroughly entertaining, disturbingly cynical laugh riot.
