    It absolutely remains one of the greatest zombie movies of all time. Very, very impressively made for a low-budget debut, it's gripping and thrilling and exciting and the zombies look really really good. Duane Jones is a damn good lead, and the whole film is just constantly exciting. It's a really really good film.

    I think it's the weakest in the trilogy because it's so bloody convoluted. The plot is an absolute mess of unnecessary sub-plots, almost none of which come to satisfying conclusions, and a total excess of characters, most of which also have nothing really to do with the film.     Really effectively terrifying horror film, the jumpscares are brilliantly executed and I was constantly on edge throughout the film. The camerawork is really good, it's a constantly moving camera, but not hand-held, it's full of close-ups of the lead character, and so stuff only comes into frame when it's right next to her, so whenever the camera moves you're constantly shitting yourself waiting to see what the fuck is going to happen.
