  i maintain that donnie darko's hot topic reputation semi-unfortunately precedes it. there's an auratic feeling to the film...okay!? there's some panache here! it's different, it takes itself *just* seriously enough, and the time shenanigans are perfectly esoteric enough to not be lame. this isn't american fucking beauty, okay? it's DONNIE fuckin' DARKO. this is two THOUSAND and ONE! i love donnie darko and i'm not afraid to admit it!

  it's not like top scorcese but the acting's just off the walls and de niro's kinda sexy with it, he's clearly gay but he keeps trying to fuck the two female leads. gotta love when a director just wants to do his own hitchcock. ain't nothing better, i tell you hwat.

  Machinist bodyhorror wherein the industrial is a sexually transmitted disease that leeches on, putrefies and purifies its unsuspecting but soon-to-be-accepting subjects. This movie's so extremely abrasive both audibly (bitching soundtrack) and visually; at times leaning into full on experimental animation with a maximalist slant that is hard to not fully appreciate if you have any leaning towards art as confrontation. I loved this. It ends with metaphorical gay sex implied to subsume the world. Absolutely insane and unafraid to be so. So fucking sick.
