Had the privilege of seeing this in a classic-style theater, months after seeing Guillermo del Toro’s remake. Honestly think I preferred this original version because it felt much tighter and cleaner. Both were entertaining, but when watching this one, from 1947, I felt so invested in the excellent storytelling. The overall perception of what is happening by the end, is also left open to multiple different interpretations, and I love when films do that.
It’s an understatement to say Top Gun Maverick exceeded my expectations. This is leaps and bounds better than the original. There’s not as much cheesy 80’s flair, but it definitely still pays plenty of tribute to fans of the original. It’s a sequel, but still can easily stand on its own, which is an impressive feat in itself. The story here is superb, the flight sequences are insane, and the film has so much heart. While entertaining and nostalgic, Lightyear is very good, but there’s some extra Pixar charm left to be desired. I did enjoy that this is a standalone story that doesn’t rely on any other entry, but aside from a major plot twist, it felt like some extra love and care was missing from the second half of the film. This is the movie that inspired Andy to want a Buzz Lightyear toy, so it’s worth your time, but temper your expectations. It’s still a fun animated sci-fi flick with nostalgia for adults, that I’m sure kids will enjoy too.

Need to give credit to one of the neighbors for the best quote of the whole documentary:
“How do you put a fart back in once it’s come out?”
“With great power, comes great responsibility.”
Spider-Man: No Way Home is a dream come true. I laughed hard, I cheered, and I shed some tears in the process. I’m still in shock and can’t believe they were so ambitious and actually pulled this off, because it’s not just fan service, it a very well made movie too! Without going into details, it’s the complete package and I loved everything about it. Hands down, this is the best Spider-Man movie, and it…
