The Fox and the Hound 2

Even at 69 minutes, The Fox and the Hound 2 is overlong. Its narrative is thin, its characters and dialog are the most tedious kind of hokum, its humor generic and recycled, and its CGI animation is so conspicuous that it's distracting.

This "story" is set during the early portion of the original film, which itself is not an inherently bad concept. The problem is that this sequel (midquel?) adds nothing of interest or value. It's also entirely incongruous with the tone of the first picture, eschewing its understated emotional heft for tiresome bombastic gags.

The era of the original film's production is often considered the low point in Disney animation, but that characterization is far too generous about the era of direct-to-video cash-grab sequels of the mid-90's to the mid-00's.
