"'Where were you when I laid the foundations of the Earth, when the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?'"

The cinematic equivalent of a Requiem Mass, and dare I say, the best film ever made. Every shot, music choice, acting moment, and question it raises is thing of wonder. I doubt we'll ever see anything like this for a long time. If ever.

Walks that fine line of campy and cheesy, and all the more better for it. Moore still looks to be aging, though he's definitely having a great time in this. I struggle to see how they stretched this plot out for over two hours, but the action was at least nice and I liked some of the one liners. This era of Bond is just so strange to me; it's like they couldn't figure out where to go after Connery left. This one's fun, but I'm ready to get back to why I love this series in the first place.

It's admittedly outdone by musicals that would come after it, but there's still charm and wonder to be found in Lloyd Bacon's backstage musical. I honestly might be swayed by my love of the stage adaptation from the '80s because I adored seeing how this story played out. Last 15 minutes are worth that whole running time alone.

I'm utterly speechless. This is hands-down one of the best movies I've seen in a movie theater, and was probably the best birthday present I could have received. Not only is it on par with the 1982 original, but it is completely its own monster, and there's a lot that could have gone wrong with this. Thankfully, Denis Villeneuve knows what he's doing. Can we just all agree that this dude is the filmmaker of this generation? The dude is…
