Trey’s review published on Letterboxd:
An exquisite experiment, if not a bit derivative and unfocused. But perhaps that's what makes The Forbidden Room so compelling as a piece of art. It takes a pre-existing foundation and turns it into this mad rabbit hole of a dreamscape - often meandering, and vividly lucid. I found myself a bit disconnected from it, though I think that's the point? It'll leave you with a lot of questions, for sure, but I find this is a lovely win for Maddin and company. Flapjacks.
