    The Matrix Reloaded

    Yeah, idc, this still rocks - philosophical filibustering, over-the-top fights, and all. The highway chase is unmatched.

    Goodness, it just gets better and better, doesn’t it?

  • Christmas with The Chosen: The Messengers

    Christmas with The Chosen: The Messengers

    Not rating this because it has more music videos for CCM than it does an actual episode, but still very nicely done - and helps refocus the heart and spirit going into this Christmas season. It’s hard not to get choked up witnessing a very accurate portrait of the birth of Christ juxtaposed with an older Mary recounting her song to Mary Magdalene. If there’s one thing The Chosen gets right, it’s the care and authenticity in delivering Christ’s story and message to the world.

    Into the Woods

    Sometimes people leave you
    Halfway through the wood.
    Do not let it grieve you;
    No one leaves for good.

    Hits real different now that Sondheim is no longer with us. Nowhere near a perfect adaptation but MAN does it bring the feels.

    The children in this are so bad that I was convinced the main child was the same actress from the first one playing a different character

    Was not expecting this to hit as hard as it did. After a string of “meh” I’m so glad Disney is back to remind us the importance of family and discovering the gift of inner beauty that’s found within each and every one of us. Some catchy - if not familiar-sounding - tunes from Lin Manuel-Miranda, gorgeous, vibrant animation, and a lovable voice cast help sell a screenplay that might seem weaker in less capable hands. Not to mention, the low stakes here really help the family dynamics (and drama) come to life. This better be a hit; I absolutely adored it.

    Far From the Tree

    Short film or not, I never realized how great it would feel to see a 2D-animated Disney movie on the big screen again. They’ve got to bring stuff like this back.

    Cannot believe I'll never write a screenplay half as good as this. Possibly the best Thanksgiving movie ever.

    Disney's FastPass: A Complicated History

    Defunctland truly is the best channel on YouTube. Even as someone who works for the Walt Disney Company, I had no clue the issues with FastPass ran this deep. One of the most entertaining, informative deep dives I’ve watched.
