Marvel Cinematic Universe Rewatch
Part 15/23 (Phase 3)
With the first Guardians having accomplished all the work to establish the characters and their dynamics with each other, Vol. 2 gets the opportunity to display their existing relationships with more vulnerability. Each member's knowledge of one another brings about great humor, intimacy, & tension. The movie goes deep in endearing fashions without ever letting go of the fun.
The visuals are extravagantly produced and captured. Every moment teems with luscious color. I also love how Guardians continues to draw inspiration from the 80s, this time not only in song, but also in people. Bringing in Kurt Russell, Sylvester Stallone, and even a very brief but very memorable cameo from David Hasselhoff as supporting roles of the story is a delightful homage to action stars of the 80s.
Drax has never been funnier. Groot has never been cuter.
"In times of hardship, just remember: We. Are. Groot."
-David Hasselhoff
