Once upon a Tom in Quarantine’s review published on Letterboxd:
You gotta kill the person you were born to be in order to become the person you want to be.
It’s an Elton John musical, and I love Elton John music. So I obviously had a good time with all the musical numbers. The story in between, though, was pretty unremarkable. Taron Egerton plays a very convincing Elton John (and apparently did his own singing as well), and the fantastical music sequences were a spectacle to behold. The screenplay, though, was filled with a thousand little moments that had my attention wandering, just waiting for the next song to start up. Mildly Recommended, but if I had it to do over again, I’d skip over everything but the music.
