Sound of Metal

Sound of Metal ★★★½

The world does keep moving, and it can be a damn cruel place. But for me, those moments of stillness, that place, that's the kingdom of God.

Maybe it was just high expectations on my part, but I didn't have quite the emotional connection to the story that I was expecting (based on all those glowing reviews and end-of-year lists). It's a compelling enough premise, and Riz Ahmed is simply great. But I did find myself zoning out a bit at times (which, for a movie that spends so much of its runtime in silence, probably didn't benefit my viewing experience). Still Recommended, though. Probably worth a revisit.
