Color me absolutely SHOCKED that this person whose best movies are so close to being bad movie has since made universally panned movies.

The gays are at it again.

  • Sex, Lies, and Videotape

    Sex, Lies, and Videotape

    very apt title.

  • The Tree of Life

    The Tree of Life

The extended cut is pretty amazing. I expected this to abstract the film more, but instead it provides clarity. And that really works.

I don’t find this best introduction to the film, but it might be the better version.

    The House That Jack Built

Lars von Trier in 2011: "I'm a Nazi."
Lars von Trier fans: "It was a joke in poor taste."

Lars von Trier in 2018: "No really, I'm a Nazi."

Hard not to desire a bit more from the end of this — not the very, very end, which is excellent, albeit, expected — but this is such a fucking trip. Nic Cage porn, through and through. I didn’t know I needed that?

    Truly, truly evil filmmaking.

  • Knife + Heart

    Knife + Heart

Really, really liked this. There’s certainly more to be desired in some parts, but this is a film that’s so committed to what it is, so it’s hard to fault it. Violent, sexy and so, so queer. Excellent.
