Film #05: The Haunted Palace (1963)
The Haunted Palace directed by the legendary Roger Corman and featuring the equally legendary Vincent Price was a breezy watch, in the best way.
Price sounds identical to "Brain" from The Pinky and the Brain; which is unreal. Corman takes the simple premise and turns it into a slightly surreal, and brilliant witch-hunt era Salem period piece. Surprisingly good.
The makeup was egregious but also ingenious. The thunder effects were just as dope. It's funny to think that Psycho was made two years earlier because they're both so different, yet so effective.
I'm stoked to dig into all the other Poe//Corman collabs.
