I know this was in the 70s, but I feel like the 80's aesthetic was born the minute that ship design showed up on screen. I think filmmakers would be re-creating these vibes for years to come, much in the same way Richard Dreyfuss felt the urge to re-create that mountain shape out of clay or mashed potatoes.
Also, I am kind of freaked out because the "email received" sound on Outlook is almost the exact sound played on the synthesizer in the film and I thought my computer was communicating directly with the movie.
Steven Spielberg films always feel like a warm hug. Even though I've never seen Close Encounters before, it felt so familiar to me. I can't think of another filmmaker whose films give off such a magical quality.
