Don't hate my opinions
This film is jam packed with stupendous performances from Al Pacino and John Cazale, a fantastic script written by former Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences president Frank Pierson (2001-2005) who won the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay, and great directing from Sidney Lumet. It all together equals a fantastic film from start to finish!
This was a mess of a film. It was one part war film and the other romance and couldn't handle either side of the story. It had an excruciatingly slow pace, a boring runtime, boring plot, boring characters, lame writing and dialogue, and terrible editing. I thought the great Steve McQueen, Candice Bergen, and Richard Attenborough particularly, were one of two only bright spots in this lousy disastrous snooze fest. But I think these are the most miss casted actors…
