ETA: a day later, i’m expanding on my thoughts because i can’t stop having them. i don’t think of myself as a particularly reverent person, even when it comes to the subject matter that this film explores. but i found the whole package so artless, tasteless, exploitative, and manipulative. it wasn’t the staged death scenes that did it for me — i actually found that gimmick to be an interesting method to jump into a larger examination…
