Hereditary ★★½

Finally, the horror movie made by the person who would write one of those godawful "rare, artful horror film" think pieces. As best I can tell, Aster has very little respect for horror films; he cynically retreads the blandest mainstays of the genre as if he is the first to ever touch them. There are some good spooks and slick camerawork, sure, but for the most part this is just lazy filmmaking with a flimsy sheen of thematic posturing.
