    Day 585 out of 730:

Today was the second time out of the whole challenge that I didn’t notice anything new in Groundhog Day when watching it. The first time that I didn’t notice anything new was on day 209 so there has been a 376 day gap between then and now.

Noticed that one of the background extras at Gobbler’s Knob is wearing a pair of Sony headphones during Phil’s speech near the end of the film.

    After the Thin Man

    ★★

It’s duller than the first film and the characters are significantly less witty due to the lack of alcohol.

    Day 583 out of 730:

Tried to find out if there was a hidden meaning behind the number ‘348’ on top of the piano teacher’s door today and found out that one of Mozart’s compositions called “V'amo di core teneramente” is catalogued as number ‘348’ in the Köchel catalogue.

    Day 581 out of 730:

Watched it on VHS today. The main differences that I noticed were the change in aspect ratio and that some of the vocals and noises were higher pitched at certain points. I also noticed that Rita’s jumper is somehow red instead of pink, in the VHS version.

Noticed that a groundhog statue can be seen in the window of Stewarts Drug Store during the joyride scene.

  • Minions: The Rise of Gru

    Minions: The Rise of Gru

    ★★★½

It has the worst villains ever in a Despicable Me movie but still managed to capture the magic of the first Despicable Me movie whenever Gru and the Minions were onscreen. Genuinely could’ve been the greatest movie of the year if the Vicious 6 didn’t suck so much. Michelle Yeoh was awesome.

Realised that the start of the car chase scene may have been a reference to Bringing Up Baby after watching it today.

Perfect comedic timing from Cary Grant, with some of the funniest pratfalls in cinema. The third act and ending are quite messy but it’s a lot of fun.

    The Leopard

    ★½

The entire film felt like watching a group of actors reciting dialogue from the book instead of watching real life characters come to life on the screen. There was too much speaking with hardly any character development so most of the performances felt one-dimensional. I did enjoy the cinematography and I thought Alain Delon’s performance was quite good, but overall this was not for me. I found myself excruciatingly bored for the majority of the runtime.
