Before Sunset

Before Sunset ★★★★★

"I have these dreams, you know, that I’m…I'm standing on a platform, and you keep going by on a train, go by, and you go by, and you go by, and you go by, and I wake up with the fucking sweats, you know? And then I have this other dream, oh...where you're...pregnant, in bed beside me, naked, and I want so badly to touch you, but you tell me not to and then you look away and...and I...I...I touch you anyway, right on your ankle and your skin is so soft and I wake up in sobs, alright? And my wife is sitting there looking at me, and I feel like I'm a million miles from her, and I know that there's something...wrong."

less of a celebration of love than it is a celebration of the legacy of it, Hawke and Delpy shine in the roles of possibly the best movie couple of all time; not because of their philosophy or chemistry (though those two play into it), but because of how free will bring them together even when fate threatens to tear them apart. poetic, heartbreaking, and strikingly gripping, Before Sunset is the ode to a question not often asked by romance films: is a shattered soul any better than no soul? And are the pain of the consequences worth the love of your life?

Side note: just wanna thank you all for getting me to 1,000 followers...being on this site and sharing my thoughts on film with people who love the art form just as much as I do has been an incredible pleasure filled with highs and lows but I love you all so much! 💜💜💜 Here's to more memories!
