Not gonna lie, It took me a while to figure out if I consider this five full stars or if I just really like Rita/Camilla. We'll keep it at a 4.5 for now, but I'm fairly certain that a rewatch will increase the score and garner a meatier review, because this feels like one of those films that grows the more you experience it. I always find myself changing my ratings on David Lynch's stuff anyway.
Overall though, I really adored this one, and it's definitely the Lynch movie that clicked hardest for me—a total fever dream that's beautiful in moments but overall just downright melancholy and devastating. Naomi Watts is amazing as usual and she has excellent chemistry with Laura Harring, bilingual queen. Loved all of the Hichcockian elements as well.
