Vance King’s review published on Letterboxd:
Okay, I know I am a few years late to this house party, but a haunting experience not to be missed! So much dark, gothic, and ghostly atmosphere to soak in. Hill House legitimately spooked me!
So it is jammed packed with endless family drama. A bit tiresome in spots. This really feels like This is Us: Haunted Edition. And the movie-man in me was a tad irked by the stretched-on-the-rack runtime that so often plagues the multi-episode format. But honestly, there isn't too much needless filler, and the extended family drama really helps you care about the main cast. And thank the high heavens there is a firm ending.
If you are looking for an effective contemporary ghost story with plenty of classic undertones, this is a sure bet. Chilling.
