Noah Smith’s review published on Letterboxd:
I’ve praised Edward Yang a lot already but man it’s hard not to. It’s almost discouraging as a young filmmaker to see movies like this, cause I mean, what else is there to make? Beautiful.
Funny enough though, as I usually talk about his composition and such, this watch my mind was on sound. With a movie that’s nearly all wide and extreme-Wide shots, the attention to environment and ADR use is inspiring. Even though it feels like this horse should be beaten to death: capturing and replicating clear, good sound is magic and hugely important.
