    It is most exciting in its first act where Elvis rises and exemplifies the unifying of race relations in the US, as well as an unstoppable sexual awakening. A force against the conservative religious values of the country. 

    And still, despite his radical presence, he is completely pure.

    This is 100% a Cronenberg movie—not just in its subject and content, but in all the ways his classic films are kinda quirky, kinda B-grade, kinda trashy. He is not sacrificing these elements for what modern/unfamiliar audiences expect of how performances, and dialogue, and design(?) are reconciled with tone and mood—this ain’t Blade Runner 2049, or Annihilation, or any other prestigiously oriented dramatic sci-fi film. It’s wonky, weird, and emotionally dissonant.
