I am disappointed with how the movie ended. Why do men who mistreat women somehow always win? While there is some vindication for other characters, surely there was a better way to end the movie. The female protagonist has motives that are questionable to some but noble to others. The movie walks a thin line between the two, ultimately deciding to make her the villain. She is left sad and alone, while the Marquis finds love. The dialogue throughout the movie is excellent and witty. If I had liked the ending, I would've given it four stars.
