Vincent Gallo is a bad person and so is his character in the film. Billy is a rude, homophobic and misogynistic piece of shit. But Gallo's painstakingly beautiful direction and writing makes it impossible for you to not give a billion fucks about this extremely unlikeable character.
Christina Ricci is plain awesome as Layla, she's without any doubt the best part of this film. The way she's mistreated towards the film's start sure will arouse anger, but stay with this film as the experience is rewarding. Funny, intimate, poignant and moving, Buffalo' 66 is an astoundingly great debut and one which will stay with me for a long time. You won't be able to stop smiling by the end.
