Laurie Strode’s review published on Letterboxd:
Dolemite Is My Name
I was anticipating October to finish so I can actually watch this “supposedly” hysterical biopic. Turns out I wasted my time and embarrassed my choice in film in front of my mom. It’s good to see Eddie Murphy getting some work in, and Wesley Snipes completely proves he’s still a competent movie star, but this film reeks of Netflix glossiness. It feels like a Netflix show but it’s a movie. Make of that what you will. I sort of hated this films looks, and transitions, and direction. I suppose it’s tough to explain, but I did not care for the look of the film at all.
All in All, certain moments had me chuckling, but I found this painfully unfunny, and not even Murphy can save this picture.
