The Little Mermaid 2023
The Little Mermaid live action remake still doesn't need to exist, but it's definitely one of the less egregious examples, and Halle Bailey is the shining light. Her casting is the high point; her voice is beautiful, and while the new songs just don't work for me, her Ariel does.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse 2023
Its only June, and the best movie to come out in 2023 has been released. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is everything, has everything, gives you everything, and you'll walk away wanting for nothing... except the next one.
It's exceptional. Truly the pinnacle of animation.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer 1992
There's something incredibly endearing about Buffy the Vampire Slayer (the movie) in that despite the TV show being so superior, it still shows flashes of brilliance. To have a young female lead, who can fight her own battles and save the world, felt unique in 1992. It still does.
