All the beauty and all the majesty of the cinematography couldn't make me get into this essentialist and patronizing fable about the values of carrying your unwanted pregnancy to term. A little kid lost his mind at the mid-credits scene during the second screening I went to tonight. He started cheering and excitedly yelling to his parents, "it's Shadow! that's Shadow! they're putting Shadow in! finally! it's finally him!" and anyway that's basically how I feel.
