Bob Dylan - Dont Look Back 1967
The concert footage of the film, while short and infrequent, is captured so up close and only shows Dylan with a microphone and a spotlight on him. This style is a good way of displaying what kind of movie Don’t Look Back is. Pennebaker captures Dylan at one of his most prolific and acclaimed eras and comes out with something so personal and intimate that it’s hard to think there was a camera in the same room.

Secret Beyond the Door 1947
Secret Beyond the Door is one of Fritz Lang’s most expressionistic films. Dark silhouettes of characters, shadows and fog cover rooms or even the whole frame, and a faceless judge and jury with the prosecutor being the defendant.

Waves 2019
Waves is so far the worst film I have seen in recent memory. It is so overly manipulative with its music choices and dialogue, cinematography that is trying too much while also not accomplishing anything, no reason for so many aspect ratio changes (like really? Do you have to change it to a different aspect ratio after a major moment in the film?), and a plot that pretty much ends half the way through. Do not recommend it at all.

To Live and Die in L.A. 1985
This neon lit and synth pounding neo-noir starts off with a bang that continues throughout its nearly 2 hour runtime. Another masterpiece from William Friedkin.
