Christopher Von Witch King’s review published on Letterboxd:
This movie took forever to pick up and then never really met its mark. I thought I was going to sit through a half hour of build up and then get to watch an hour of DC Sniper action. But no. There was probably 10 minutes of murder. Which is an interesting route to take in a film ABOUT A MURDERER. It ended with Malvo in prison and you didn’t really get much closure either.
This is literally one of the most important cases in the past twenty years. The film could’ve been ten million times better. It deserved to be better. There was so much missing.
Redeeming factor: Joey Lauren Adams in a role that she can handle, bootleg Idris Elba as John Muhammad, LEO GODDAMN FITZPATRICK AS A GODDAMN BLACK MARKET WHITE TRASH LANDMINE SALESMAN! The acting and cast were great! My real issues were with pacing and the fact that they didn’t touch on a lot of things that deserved attention.
Lame. 🤷🏼♀️
