Like these actors & really wanted to like this, but too scattershot in its approach.

Mitchum, giving the definition of a "lived-in" performance, as a Boston small-timer caught up in The Syndicate's gears. For sure Yates' best.

Not big on sports movies but I'll admit this one got to me; the usually ham-fisted Berg good at portraying small-town small-mindedness. Never seen the TV show.

Still my favorite Denis, a real dream of Paris romance, with the as-always limpidly gorgeous work by DP Agnes Godard. First time seeing the Mitchum-esque Lindon, who's become a favorite. The beguiling Lemercier is actually mostly known as a comedian in her homeland.

Amiable sitcom enlivened by one of Brando's last exuberant parts, breezily sending up the role that made him a legend.

Drippy male weepie at least leans into the ridiculousness inherent in most time-travel movies.

Some purists cringe at the coarseness on display with Hitch finally unbridled by the censors, but I think it's among his greatest. Middle sequence on the potato truck is one of his most electrifying sequences. The backtrack dolly down the staircase! Phenomenal score by Ron Goodwin that would do Bernard Herrmann proud. Some truly hideous 70's UK fashions & hairstyles. And best last line ever?

    Talky snoozefest from Tavernier.

Pretty good sequel, with Hackman's Popeye Doyle gaining a bit of empathy (maybe?) by getting hooked on junk by the baddies.
