    The recent release of Lost In America as part of The Criterion Collection suggests it’s an essential part of the comedy film canon. It probably is when you are a fan of Albert Brooks. To me his episodic movie looks like a montage of deleted scenes from an unsold sitcom pilot. I wasn’t expecting this to be so unfunny. It’s 91 minutes of a very talky Brooks having several tantrums. The shouting doesn’t make the half-baked jokes any better.
