    Legally Blonde

I was really knocked back by how charming Legally Blonde is. It keeps a really fun charming tone, while also aging pretty well over the last 2 decades. I was expecting this to be a bit of a chore to watch, but its actually really fun.

Resse Witherspoon gives possibly her most likeable performance here. The ditzy nature of the character spawns some good laughs, but the script always treats her with respect. Elle Woods is actually a really nice…

    The Royal Tenenbaums

I always approach Wes Anderson's films a bit timidly. I'm not really sure I'm a fan. When I started The Royal Tenenbaums I couldn't really decide whether I liked it or not until the scene where Gene Hackman is running around causing mischief with his grandsons and from that point on I enjoyed it a lot.

Obviously the film is very impressive from a technical standpoint right from the beginning. The sets, cinematography and costumes are all pretty much flawless.…

I question whether a Kevin Smith documentary is really that necessary, and I say that as someone who is a fan of his work. Smith is one of the those filmmakers with a huge legion of followers that already know everything about him, and he's enough of a cult figure that causal movie fans may not know him at all.

Clerk is a full examination of Smith's career that is oddly thorough considering Smith's career is a bit front loaded…

    Glengarry Glen Ross

Glengarry Glen Ross is a stage adaptation that leaves all the heavy lifting to its premium ensemble cast. Seemingly every key member of this cast gets a moment to shine. The sharp dialogue is delivered viciously throughout. The amount of "fuck you" matches that occur over this 100 minute movie is staggering.

The film has limited locations, and certain characters weave in and out of the story. If I did have to highlight a couple of performances I'd have to…

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

The Rise of Skywalker worked for me after one viewing, but its seems very likely that it will not work for everybody. There is a lot to unpack in this movie. I go to Star Wars movies for the big moments and this film definitely delivered them. I didn't necessary find it to be stuffed with nostalgia like The Force Awakens, but there is fan service aplenty, and that's cool with me.

The story is definitely a bit all over…

    Avengers: Endgame

Avengers: Endgame is exactly what a MCU fan wants to see. It’s dripping with fan service and huge moments. I never knew what surprise was coming around the corner.

I would say that the film has plot that is a bit more difficult than Infinity War was, but with a shortened (but still very large) cast they were able to build on the characters a bit more. In a lot of ways it’s a post-apocalyptic movie, and the aftershocks of…
