    The Irishman

The Irishman is a project that Martin Scorsese has tried to get off the ground for years. Netflix is probably the only studio that would've allowed Scorsese to make this movie the way he wanted to make it. Netflix has been able to grab a few interesting directors for original films in the past few years, and I've been surprised by how many ended up disappointing me. Fortunately The Irishman is a triumph for Scorsese and Netflix.

    Ford v Ferrari

Ford V. Ferrari is a rare blockbuster biopic. It’s based on a true story, but it also has the type of sequences that should be experienced on the big screen. I’ve heard people say that this movie follows the familiar formula, but personally I don’t feel it does. I went into this movie knowing next to nothing about its real life subjects and was surprised by the final moments of the film.

Christian Bale and Matt Damon have an amazing…

Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones

My opinion always changes on which Star Wars film I consider the weakest. In my opinion its either Episode I or II. For as bad as the romance between Anakin and Padme is I find the rest of Attack of the Clones to be fairly watchable.

Ewan McGregor gets a larger role in the film and its here that he becomes a standout in a trilogy where few actors made an impact. His side of the story is far more…

  • Goalie

Good hockey movies are hard to find. Goalie is a Canadian film based on the life of legendary goaltender Terry Sawchuk. Sawchuk is among the best professional goalies of all time, but its getting to the point now where only older hockey fans and hockey historians know who he is.

Goalie doesn't have a completely conventional narrative, and it takes a bit of a documentary style at times, but only sporadically. The fake interviews with past players didn't really add…

    Avengers: Endgame

Avengers: Endgame is exactly what a MCU fan wants to see. It’s dripping with fan service and huge moments. I never knew what surprise was coming around the corner.

I would say that the film has plot that is a bit more difficult than Infinity War was, but with a shortened (but still very large) cast they were able to build on the characters a bit more. In a lot of ways it’s a post-apocalyptic movie, and the aftershocks of…

Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood

For some reason this is the first Tarantino movie I’ve seen in theatres and I caught it right before it left my local theatre. I’m so glad I did.

Once Upon A Time in Hollywood is a joy to watch from start to finish. I’ve seen many people say that the runtime gets excessive. There are obviously plenty of moments that could’ve been cut down, but I enjoyed that the movie really took its time and built the characters.
