Very Good -> 2020 Ranking (#11/55)
Carey Mulligan owns this role and it’s a thrilling ride following her vengeful vendetta and where it leads. The film does an impressive job balancing its candy-coated visuals and comedic moments with much darker and tragic subject matter. The ending is shocking and powerful but I couldn’t help feeling a bit empty afterwards as I realized there’s really no character to root for by the end of it. Nonetheless, I still really liked the movie overall. Now I must go make a “Pop Goes Horror” playlist featuring that Toxic cover and the 5 On It remix from US.
