The Hunt

The Hunt ★★½

As thrilling and entertaining this film is, Craig Zobel’s "political satire" on gun violence in America is a bit misguided and indecisive its politics and existence. What it does is it heightens the hypocrisy of the two sides of the coin: the all-knowing, extreme liberals and the gun-loving Trump supporters to a degree of nonsensical farce. But after watching the film, I’m left with nothing.

Betty Gilpin shines as if she’s in a Tarantino grindhouse film, as well as Hilary Swank who’s making a deliberate comeback in the movies. Zobel aces the cheap thrills element in the film’s action element and he sure could carry an action film in the future. But for its sociopolitical satire, The Hunt proves to be a pointless exercise.
