Vineet Aziz’s review published on Letterboxd:
The editing, sound design, and distinctive sets really make this piece. Even the cheap homemade costumes and rough visual effects are very admirable. It's remarkable how completely unearthly this short feels, despite featuring solely human characters. Somewhere between Star Wars and Brazil with something special all to itself. Absolutely otherworldly.
On another note, the speaker proclaims "THX 1138 has destroyed himself" as he runs straight into pure white light. In my opinion, while maybe too literal, this made me recontextualize the film as a metaphor for suicide. We sympathize with his struggle to escape the claustrophobic confines of an impersonal, unfeeling society and, through his perspective, we reach bliss while the rest of society then has to fill his void. Is this interpretation too literal or too far-fetched? I don't know. A very interesting and thought-provoking short.
