Catch Me If You Can ★★★★½

The closest Spielberg has come to making a Scorsese movie, if that makes sense: stylistically buoyant, but with pangs of loneliness and emptiness. Which isn’t to say that the result isn’t overflowing with Spielbergian sentiments; Frank Abagnale is a literally a kid (well, a minor) lost in midcentury fantasies of adult glamour, playing doctor, lawyer, Pan Am pilot, and James Bond.
